Grammy Award-winning and multi-platinum recording artist Albert Phillip McKay was born on February 2, 1948, in New Orleans, LA, is best known for his work as a guitarist and co-writer with Earth, Wind & Fire, where he contributed to iconic hits like "September" and "Sing A Song." McKay continues his musical journey with his band, Al McKay Allstars, and their latest release, "Heed the Message," which carries the uplifting spirit of his Earth, Wind & Fire years, featuring rich harmonies, funky grooves, and positive lyrics.
Inspired by his late songwriting partner Maurice White, McKay remains active in the music scene, working on a new album and collaborating with top songwriters and producers. His recent hit, "Everybody Get Up," has been a favorite on the Allstars' European tour. In addition to his music career, McKay has reunited original Earth, Wind & Fire members, including Verdine White, to continue performing together.
Before his Earth, Wind & Fire tenure, McKay played with legends like Sammy Davis Jr. and Ike & Tina Turner. After five decades in the industry, McKay is exploring new creative avenues, including film scoring. He received Honorary Membership in Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. on February 26, 2010, in Beverly Hills, CA.
