Veterans Day 2021

Nov. 11, 2021, By PBSWest.org

Each year since 1919 on November 11, one year after the Armistice ending World War I, we pause to honor and reflect on the bravery of the men and women who have served in the United States Military. On this special day, while a million words are not often enough to express our gratitude, it is fitting that we simply say “Thank You.”

Today, only about 2.2 million men and women serve in the entire U.S. Military forces combined. The population of the United States of America is 333.5 million today. That’s less than 0.7% of the total population volunteering to protect our freedoms and way of life. While those numbers are few in comparison, the courage and strength of our military is remarkable.

As citizens, men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. have a long history serving our nation within the military services in times of armed conflict and peace. Throughout our rich 107-year legacy, men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity have been in service since 1917 in the First World War fighting for our Nation and continues today in the military ranks protecting our freedoms at home and abroad. America is forever grateful for the commitment of the more than 23 million who have come before you and generations to follow. Your courage gives us hope for a better future and the promise that we can live our lives freely.

To our veterans, thank you for your sacrifice; for the time you and your families endured apart from one another; the special moments, the births and birthdays, every holiday and family gathering in between. Thank you for what you endure everyday hidden in soft spaces in your mind where you seem to know and only another veteran can relate.

On behalf of the Men of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Western Region we sincerely want you to know that we thank you and honor your service on this Veterans Day.

Fraternally,

Bro. Kedric Nalls
34th Western Regional Director
